Cost Estimates, Disease Incidence, and DALYs

The IDCC interactive maps (which require Flash*) present country-level estimates of the costs, disease incidence, and Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALY) burden for dengue and cholera in an interactive format.

The interactive maps make it easy to see and compare IDCC country-level estimates. For example, you can:

  • Compare economic costs of dengue in countries across the American region
  • Compare the estimated incidence of cholera in 2010 in Haiti versus Angola
  • See the impact of dengue or cholera on a region of the globe, represented by DALYs

In other words, the maps let you see individual country-level estimates in context with the rest of the world.

To Use the Map

  1. Select an indicator (eg, case numbers, economic costs, or DALYs).
  2. Scroll over the country of interest; information will appear in a pop-up as you scroll over.
  3. Change the indicator category by selecting from the drop-down menu in the upper left corner of the map.
  4. To focus on a particular region of the world, select from the drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the map.
